Put up or shut up time for GOP
The biggest roadblock that the president will face as he attempts to keep his campaign promises will not be Democrats - it will be the reactionaries in the Republican Congress.
The president wants to increase military spending, spend more on our decaying infrastructure, build a wall/fence along the southern border, which is estimated to cost at least $12-15 billion and cut taxes. The campaign promises of the president and Republican reactionaries will certainly increase the national debt and make achieving a balanced budget in the next five years an impossibility by reactionaries in the Congress who railed against spending by President Obama for eight years.
The U.S. already spends more on defense than the next eight countries combined. The U.S. also spends more on health care and has the lowest the lowest tax as a percentage of the GDP of all advanced economies.
It will certainly be interesting watching reactionaries who now have the total responsibility for federal spending, cut the national debt and balance the budget while spending more and reducing revenues (taxes).
It is put-up or shut-up time for Republican reactionaries.
