National recognition for Gurnee lifeguards

Gurnee Park District lifeguards have received national recognition. The guards recently nabbed the Ellis and Associates Platinum International Aquatic Safety Award for 2016 by consistently exceeding industry standards. Ellis and Associates is an organization that provides training, resources and auditing services for swimming facilities. The company conducted five unannounced audits to evaluate the effectiveness of training, supervision and record-keeping at the park district's Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center.
