Harvest Christian wins NAC title
Alyssa Iverson scored 15 points Friday night to lead Harvest Christian to a 51-31 girls basketball win over Alden-Hebron as the Lions clinched the Northeastern Athletic Conference championship.
Katie Kaldenberger added 12 points and Maddy Martin had 11 for Harvest (24-3, 11-0), which honored graduate Paulina Castro with #pcstrong Night as Castro, now a freshman at Northern Illinois, battles Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Geneva 45, Batavia 23: Margaret Whitley made five of her six 3-point attempts, helping No. 4 Geneva (19-4, 9-1) stay tied for the Upstate Eight Conference River Division lead with No. 8 St. Charles East (21-4, 9-1) with a convincing win at Batavia. Whitley scored 17 points in the first half as Geneva built leads of 9-2 after one quarter and 26-4 at halftime. The Vikings led 40-9 after three quarters before Batavia (7-19, 3-7) won the fourth quarter 16-5. Whitley finished with a game-high 21 points.
Bartlett 67, East Aurora 61: Kayla Hare (21 points), Sarah Jurek (16) and Taylor Tomasek (12) combined for 49 of the points for Bartlett (12-16, 6-3) in this Upstate Eight Valley win. Dearra Brown had a game-high 23 points for the Tomcats (8-11, 3-7).
Burlington Central 65, Harvard 27: Kathryn Schmidt had 19 points and 7 rebounds as the Rockets (12-13, 7-5) rolled to this Kishwaukee River win. Mackenzie West had 14 points for BC and Maddie Mencke added 12.
