Obstruction charges dropped in Illinois boy's shooting death

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - Obstruction charges have been dropped against two people in the shooting death of a 12-year-old western Illinois boy.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports (http://bit.ly/2jwuIn7) conspiracy of obstruction of justice charges also are expected to be dropped against a third person by Thursday. The obstruction charges against the three stemmed from the death of Ray Humphrey Jr. in March 2015.

State's attorney Gary Farha tells the newspaper the main reason the charges were dropped is because the boy's father wanted the case to end.

Charges against 40-year-old Julia A. Crider and 42-year-old Stefan K. Crider were dropped Tuesday. Charges against 26-year-old Stefan K. Crider III are expected to be dropped this week.

Jurors found Steson Crider guilty of first-degree murder in October 2015 and he was sentenced to 65 years in prison.
