2017 Naperville Table Tennis Tournament winners

The 2017 Naperville Table Tennis Tournament attracted players at a variety of skill levels but with a common love for the sport and the challenge of competition.

The annual Naperville Table Tennis Tournament, co-sponsored by the Naperville Park District and the Naperville Table Tennis Club, took place Sat., January 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at River Woods School, located at 2607 River Woods Dr. in Naperville.

Manikandan "Manni" Nagarathnam, 13, of Oswego, who has competed in the youth division of the tournament in past years, entered the Men's Open this year with the goal of winning it. His consistent practice and individual work with a trainer paid off, as he won the Men's Open, the youngest winner in the tournament's 30-year history.

Results of all of the divisions are as follows:

11 and Under: Finalist-Peter O'Brien, Champion-Derek Sisbarro

Ages 12-13: Finalist-Zachary Slade, Champion-Justin Wu

Men's Open: Finalist-Roopak Chakraborty, Champion- Manikandan Nagarathnam

Men's Masters: Finalist-Jincheng Wu, Champion-John Brandt

Women's Open: Finalist-Aizhen Lu, Champion-Archana Gidwani
