Normal Theater hosts 6 weeks of Alfred Hitchcock classics

NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - A central Illinois movie theater is screening a free series of Alfred Hitchcock classics, each followed by discussions with a film scholar.

It's called the "Six Week Film School" and it gets started next week at the Normal Theater in Normal. William Thomas McBride is curating the series. He is an associate professor of film and drama at Illinois State University

McBride tells the (Bloomington) Pantagraph (http://bit.ly/2k5n6qH ) he's seen the director's films many times but never on as large a screen.

The series starts Wednesday with the 1943 thriller "Shadow of a Doubt" and continues on Wednesdays through March 8, concluding with the 1964 movie "The Birds."

Rounding out the Hitchcock series are "Notorious," ''Strangers on a Train," ''Vertigo" and "Psycho."
