ArtReach and Spotlite Theatrix Production present children's classic

ArtReach Educational Theatre, in partnership with Spotlite Theatrix Production Company, is staging "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

Based on the Roald Dahl tale, this comedic and fantastical play follows young Charlie Bucket and his Grandpa Joe as they join a small group of contest winners who get to tour the magical and mysterious factory of eccentric candy maker Willy Wonka.

Aided by his diminutive Oompa Loompa workers, Wonka has a hidden motivation for the tour, one that he will reveal only after the children in the group show their true colors.

Shows will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, and Saturday. Feb. 4, at The Bethel Lutheran Church, 3839 W. Frontage Road, Palatine. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. For ticket information, call (630) 808-5852 or visit www.artreachspotlite.com.

Directed by Dan Walsh and Jonah Parra, both of Des Plaines, the cast includes: Kevin Foss of Palatine as Willie Wonka; Max Gould of Palatine as Charlie Bucket; Noah Riskind of Palatine as Grandpa Joe; Karen Kroll of Barrington as Mrs. Bucket; Steve Kroll of Barrington as Mr. Bucket; Daniel Rau of Palatine as Augustus Gloop; Theresa McAtee of Wheeling as Veruca; Sam Gould of Palatine as Mike Tee Vee; Katie Kroll of Barrington as Violet; Matthew Smalec of Elgin as Grandpa George; Mikayla Rau of Palatine as Grandma Georginia; and Zoe Morehead of Rolling Meadows as Grandma Josephine.

Performing the roles of the narrators/Oompa Loompas are: Zoe Morehead of Rolling Meadows, Morgan Smith of Hoffman Estates, Jodie Lloyd of Itasca, Matthew Smalec of Elgin, Skyla Guinn of Des Plaines, Sam DelCastillo of Palatine, Kathryn Labno of Palatine, Micah Turner of Cicero, Mikayla Rau of Palatine, Julia Barbour of Palatine, and Thomas Tompkins of Palatine.

The mission of ArtReach Educational Theatre is to expose children to all aspects of theater, music and dance. ArtReach accepts any child, from beginner to advanced performing levels, with a genuine interest in the arts from age 5 through high school.
