Still work to be done on eliminating bias
In recent editorials, the Daily Herald tried to convince us that there is no bias in its reporting nor that of most other media. Yet on your Jan. 16 front page, you printed a report on Mr. Trump that was not exactly unbiased. Here are some examples.
Your Associated Press story describes Mr. Trump as "the confrontational, divisive Republican." Those adjectives apply equally to Mr. Obama. Did the press ever describe him as the confrontational, divisive Democrat?
Your story said that Mr. Trump is " ... picking (fights) with ... Rep. John Lewis ..." Truth is that the fight picking was done by Mr. Lewis who started the foolishness by saying that Mr. Trump is not a "legitimate president".
Your story reported on polls showing that Mr. Trump is very unpopular (even though he just won an election). It failed to point out that these same pollsters told us repeatedly that there was no way that Mr. Trump could ever get 270 electoral votes. Doesn't that call into question the value of their polls, which you should have reported?
The press has called the KKK racist because they support whites to the exclusion of blacks. That is exactly what Rep. John Lewis has done - support blacks to the exclusion of whites. Has the press ever called him "racist"?
I think you still have some work to do on eliminating bias.
