Arlington Heights soccer star Spector signs MLS deal

Arlington Heights native Jonathan Spector signed Tuesday with Orlando City of Major League Soccer.

Spector, 30, left Birmingham City of the English Football League Championship. The defender first went to England in 2004, playing for Manchester United, before moving on to Charlton Athletic, West Ham United and finally Birmingham City. He also has 36 caps for the U.S. national team.

"We are thrilled to add a player of Jonathan's pedigree to our roster," Lions CEO Alex Leitão said. "We are very confident Jonathan will fit nicely into our camp and provide veteran leadership in the back."
