Tax filing help available at COD

Taxpayers can receive free assistance with electronic filing of state and federal tax returns on Saturday mornings, Feb. 25 through April 15, on College of DuPage's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. COD offers the help in partnership with Glen Ellyn Elementary District 89, Villa Park Public Library and Wheaton Public Library.

Sessions are from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, Feb. 25; March 4, 11, 18 and 25; and April 8 and 15, in the Seaton Computing Center, Room 123.

Additional times and locations will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at Park View Elementary School, 250 S. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn; from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays, Feb. 19 and 26 and March 5, at Villa Park Public Library, 305 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park; and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays, March 5 and 12, at Wheaton Public Library, 225 N. Cross St., Wheaton. Walk-ins are welcome.

Students in Accounting 2200, under instructor supervision, assist students, staff and community members to electronically file 1040 IL, 1040 and Schedules A-B forms. Free assistance also is provided for schedules C-EZ and small Schedule Ds (three items or less).

Participants must bring all pertinent tax information, including the previous year's return and banking account numbers if participants would like to receive their return via direct deposit. For information, visit taxprep@cod.edu or call (630) 942-2140.
