1 dead after crash on Algonquin Road in Algonquin
One person died Wednesday after an early morning single-car crash in Algonquin.
Algonquin police said they found a Dodge Charger fully engulfed in flames at 1:39 a.m. on West Algonquin Road west of Berg Street.
Police have not released the name of the driver.
Investigators determined the driver was traveling west on Algonquin Road when the vehicle veered off the road and struck a utility pole on the north side of the street, police said.
The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, died from injuries as a result of the collision and fire, police said.
Algonquin Road was closed between Pyott Road and the Route 31 bypass while authorities responded to the crash.
