Landscape artist's work on display at Oakton

A renowned landscape artist is visiting Oakton Community College this month to talk about his exhibition at the school.

The public is invited to hear Harold Gregor, a former University of Illinois professor, speak about 50 years of artwork he has painted, from early abstract work to his interpretations of Illinois farmlands.

"Harold is one of the most prominent landscape artists in the Midwest," said Nathan Harpaz, museum manager and curator. "He challenges the flat and monotonous look of the prairie by creating dynamic images with startling perspectives and colors."

The free event is 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at the school's Koehnline Museum of Art. The exhibition is on display until Friday, Feb. 17.
