Free tax filing assistance

Moraine Township will offer free assistance to low- and moderate-income taxpayers filing their 2016 income tax returns from Feb. 1 through April 8. Volunteers are trained and certified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to prepare basic returns for taxpayers earning less than $55,000 in 2016. Appointments will take place in the Moraine Township Office, 777 Central Ave., Highland Park, and are available mornings, afternoons, and evenings, Monday to Thursday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
