Chimney fire in Lake Forest

A chimney fire caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to a house in the 400 block of east Illinois Road in Lake Forest, fire officials said in a news release. Lake Forest Fire Department crews responded to a call from a passerby at 7:18 p.m. Wednesday. Initial crews reported flames from the chimney and upgraded the response to bring in additional fire departments. Highland Park, Lake Bluff, Knollwood, Lincolnshire, Libertyville, Deerfield, and Wheeling assisted in extinguishing the fire, overhaul, and station coverage. A broken water pipe contributed to the damage in the house. The residents were not displaced and crews cleared the scene at 9:46 p.m., the release stated.
