Calm, steady leadership

The grinches of Christmas that supposedly represent us in Washington and Springfield have cast shadows over our homes. With that in mind I was pleased to read the article "A look back at 2016, ahead to 2017" in the Daily Herald.

We all need to understand that with the lack of anything positive being done in Springfield and all of the ongoing questions about the future that come out of Washington, more and more gets pushed down to the local level.

In Arlington Heights, I have come to value the calm and steady leadership of Mayor Tom Hayes. His recent comment that he doesn't see himself "as a politician but more as a public servant" says a lot about his leadership style. Might not be real exciting but maybe exciting isn't what we need right now.

Keep up the good work, Mayor Hayes.
