Military members, families can participate in Illinois' veterans history project

Local residents can participate in the Illinois Veterans' History Project, a program created by Secretary of State Jesse White after the Library of Congress was charged with preserving stories of military service. The project gives military members and their families an opportunity to permanently record their memories. To participate, veterans or family members can complete a form available at driver service facilities throughout Illinois or at https://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/. Participants receive an official certificate of appreciation. According to White's office, the project has nearly 6,000 records accessible through Illinois Digital Archive and about 300 interviews on the project's YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/user/ilveteransproject.
