Skillicorn stepping down as East Dundee trustee
Allen Skillicorn is stepping down from his position as East Dundee trustee to focus on his new role in the state legislature.
Skillicorn, a Republican, was elected in November to the 66th House District. He will replace State Rep. Mike Tryon on Jan. 11 for the two-year seat.
To give himself time to complete that transition, the two-term trustee served at his last East Dundee board meeting Dec. 19. The village board is expected to formally accept his resignation Tuesday, after which Village President Lael Miller can appoint a replacement for the remainder of Skillicorn's term, which expires in 2019.
Pointing to new growth, businesses and revenue sources throughout the village, Skillicorn said East Dundee has made significant progress since he was first elected as trustee in 2011.
"The board I'm leaving has shown so much creativity and discipline," Skillicorn said. "I'm confident they will keep serving the community with the same enthusiasm."
During his campaign for state legislature, Skillicorn said his priorities include getting a state budget passed and providing residents with some property tax relief by implementing a property tax freeze.
