UT Arlington hangs on for 8th straight, 56-51 over Bradley

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - Kevin Hervey had 15 points and 14 rebounds and his jumper with 14 seconds left iced UT Arlington's 56-51 win over Bradley on Friday night.

Hervey capped the scoring for the Mavericks (9-3). The Braves (5-6) missed two shots in the final seconds and UT Arlington won its eighth straight.

Bradley used a 9-2 run to get within 52-49 on Antoine Pittman's basket with 1:19 left. UT Arlington's Erick Neal and Bradley's Donte Thomas traded a pair of free throws before Hervey's jumper put it out of reach for the Braves.

The Mavericks opened the game on a 12-0 run, but the Braves answered and had their only lead of the game at 16-15. UT Arlington led 31-24 at halftime and kept its lead between 1 and 8 points through the second half.

Neal added 13 points for the Mavericks. Pittman led the Braves with 14.
