Boys swimming: Balcerak breaks records in St. Viator's victory

Junior standout Michael Balcerak, recently back from successful competition in a national-level meet, added to the good times on Tuesday.

St. Viator earned a 65-29 boys swimming against visiting Elgin in a nonconference dual.

In addition to providing legs on a pair of winning relays, Balcerak broke two pool records, along with a school record.

The two-time high school state meet qualifier won the 200-yard IM in 1:56.71 and the 100 butterfly in 51.20.

The butterfly time is a pool record, while the IM clocking is a both a pool record and an all-time best for the St. Viator program.

Other winners for St. Viator included junior Michael Ruben in both the 50 free (24.27) and the 500 free (5:16.70), and junior Hunter Reed in both the 200 free (2:06.90) and the 100 breast (1:11.49).
