County that lost all trucks in fire getting help with plows

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A county commissioner says Montgomery County is getting help with snow plowing after a fire has destroyed most of the trucks used by the Highway Department.

Commissioner Terry Hockersmith tells WISH-TV (http://bit.ly/2glOmkh ) that Tippecanoe, Fountain and Boone counties and the cities of Carmel and Fishers have loaned snow plows to Montgomery County. Also, some surrounding counties have agreed to plow beyond their boundaries.

Hockersmith said the county received more offers than it could accept.

The National Weather Service forecasts the western Indiana county will receive a mix of snow, sleet and rain on Sunday.

Hockersmith said Montgomery County cannot buy replacement plows until it receives insurance money, which likely will be delayed until the State Fire Marshal's Office finishes its investigation into the Nov. 6 fire.
