Police: Body found in lake near Mundelein
Authorities are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found Friday in a Mundelein-area lake.
An autopsy is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday on the unidentified victim, described as an Asian woman, possibly in her 40s or 50s, according to a Lake County sheriff's office news release. She is approximately 5-foot, 3-inches to 5-foot, 5-inches tall, 120 to 130 pounds, with short black hair. She was wearing a purple long-sleeve shirt, black spandex-type pants, and a gray skirt.
"At this point, it doesn't appear that foul play is a factor," Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Christopher Covelli said. The investigation is continuing, he added.
Covelli said 9-1-1 dispatch received a call at 8:07 a.m. after a jogger had seen a body floating in Sylvan Lake. The jogger ran to the nearest house and phoned for assistance, Covelli said.
Detectives and evidence technicians were called to the scene near Midlothian and Gilmer roads, Covelli said. The body was removed from the water by members of the Countryside Fire Protection District and the Lake County coroner's office.
Anyone with information about the victim is asked to call the sheriff's office at (847) 549-5200. This information could include someone who matches the description who didn't come to work when scheduled, return home when scheduled, or is known to be missing, the release stated.
