Muslim registry not the way to beat ISIS

Hearing about a Muslim registry this election cycle was bizarre. Now Reince Priebus, incoming White House Chief of Staff of the Trump administration won't rule out a registry.

The fact that he clarified that it won't be based on religion was little comfort as we Americans are looking at bigotry right in the face.

I am an American Ahmadi Muslim and I was rattled to hear Mr. Trump's comments before the election. I was also confused to see him soften on many issues just a day after the elections. I don't believe in protesting on the streets but I do believe in rational discourse, and through writing we can deal with many issues that threaten world peace.

If Mr. Trump wishes to defeat ISIS, making a registry is not the way to do it as he is confusing the terrorists with other Muslims. It will cause unnecessary discord amongst communities, whereas I think the answer to fight extremism is to unite all Americans together and send a positive message to troublemakers in all parts of this country and the world.
