Ibrahimovic secures another season at United _ if he wants

MANCHESTER, England (AP) - Manchester United wants to keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic for another season.

United manager Jose Mourinho announced Wednesday that the club wants to take up the option to extend the Swedish forward's contract through 2018.

"I feel fresh, I feel in shape and physically if I feel like now, probably it will be a second year," Ibrahimovic said. "I want to be realistic with myself. I want to be able to perform like I can do and not waste time. Now it is probably a yes (to another season), but I need discussions."

The 35-year-old Ibrahimovic joined United on a free transfer in July after leaving Paris Saint-Germain. Ibrahimovic opened his United career with four goals in four Premier League games but he has only scored three times in 12 games in all competitions since then.

"He is happy, committed and loving his life as a football player at Man United," Mourinho said. "This is probably the last big challenge of his football career, so it is perfect for him to be here for the next 18 months and then he owns the decision of his future."
