Arlington Heights man sentenced for child porn
An Arlington Heights man was sentenced Tuesday to five years in prison for receiving sexually explicit images of a 10-year-old girl with whom he communicated online, federal prosecutors said.
As part of a plea deal, Daniel Santiago, 25, pleaded guilty in August to one count of knowingly receiving child pornography.
Prosecutors say he attempted to persuade the girl to engage in sexually explicit conduct during several online conversations in 2014. He received an image over the internet that depicted the child's private area, then uploaded the image to an online file-sharing application that allowed others to view the image, according to a news release from the U.S. attorneys office.
Santiago amassed a collection of some 2,210 pictures and 25 videos in the file-sharing application, some that included images of prepubescent minors, and sadistic and masochistic conduct, according to the plea agreement.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI's Child Exploitation Task Force.
