Mewis, Kallman to Spirit and Oyster heads to Boston in trade
The Boston Breakers sent Kristie Mewis and Kassey Kallman to the Washington Spirit in exchange for defender Megan Oyster and the No. 3 and No. 9 picks in the 2017 NWSL college draft.
Oyster is currently on loan to the Newcastle Jets of the Westfield W-League in Australia. The 13th overall pick in the 2015 college draft out of UCLA, Oyster played two seasons for the Spirit.
Mewis, a midfielder who played at Boston College, played for a season with FC Kansas City in 2013 before joining the Breakers the next season. This year she played in 14 games with a goal and an assist.
Kallman has played all 40 matches over the past two seasons for the Breakers. She was drafted by FC Kansas City out of Florida State in 2014 and played on that season's NWSL championship team.
The Spirit also received the No. 1 priority in the league's Distribution Ranking Order.
