Illinois adds highly rated center Tilmon

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Illinois says it has added high-ranking center Jeremiah Tilmon to its recruiting class for the coming season.

Illinois coach John Groce said Thursday that the sought-after 6-10, 245-pound Tilmon "has everything you want at that position." Groce called Tilmon a good scorer and passer who also excels at inside defense.

Recruiting analysts rank the player from East St. Louis, Illinois, among the top 25 recruits in the country. He is Groce's highest-ranked recruit at Illinois.

Tilmon also will fill an immediate need for Illinois because both centers, Maverick Morgan and Mike Thorne Jr., are in their final seasons.

Tilmon joins guards Trent Frazier, Javon Pickett and Da'Monte Williams in an Illini recruiting class that several recruiting services now rank in the top 10 in the country.
