Hoffman Estates taking applications for Citizen Police Academy

The Hoffman Estates Police Department is accepting applications for its next Citizen Police Academy, which begins Tuesday, Jan. 10, and runs for 15 weeks until April 18.

Participants will learn about a variety of topics, including crime scene evidence and processing, investigations, SWAT, firearms, K-9, scenarios, traffic and DUIs. Classes run from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and reside, attend school or work in Hoffman Estates. Class size is limited, and spots fill up quickly. Applicants living in areas that do not offer a Citizen Police Academy may also be considered.

For more information and to download an application, visit www.hoffmanestates.org/police and click the "Citizen Police Academy" link, or pick up an application at the police department front desk. For more information, contact Sgt. Mark Mueller at (847) 781-2866 or mark.mueller@hoffmanestates.org.
