Severed head found in lagoon ID'ed as Chicago woman

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago officials have identified a woman whose severed head found in a bag in a lagoon on the city's South Side.

The Cook County medical examiner on Wednesday said the head belonged to 20-year-old Quesola Mimms of Chicago. A maintenance worker who was cleaning McKinley Park lagoon found the head in September.

Mimms' cause and manner of death have not been determined, pending more studies. Other body parts also were found at the time.

After the head was found police said they were sending divers from a marine unit to perform "grid searches" of the lagoon.
