Probation for Lindenhurst teen who admitted stealing man's wallet
A Lindenhurst teen was sentenced to "second-chance probation" Tuesday after she pleaded guilty to stealing a wallet from a man prosecutors say she arranged to meet in a Palatine parking lot last March.
Alicia Valerio, 19, pleaded guilty to theft and was sentenced to two years' probation and 30 hours of community service. If she completes her probation requirements, remains drug-free and picks up no additional charges over the next two years, the theft charge will not appear on her record. Valerio had no prior criminal background.
Valerio and Derrius Wilson, 20, arranged to meet a man about 4 a.m. March 29 in a parking lot on the 700 block of East Rand Road.
Wilson struck the man, who fell to the ground, and Valerio took the his wallet, which contained $100.
Police located the pair a short time later. Wilson told them the location of the wallet, Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Denise Loiterstein said.
Wilson pleaded guilty to robbery in October and was sentenced to two years of probation.
