Arlington Heights Festival of the Wreaths bidding period expanded
The Arlington Heights Historical Society is expanding the viewing and bidding period for the second annual Festival of the Wreaths to two weeks.
The period will run from Nov. 22 until Dec. 4, at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, 110 W. Fremont St., Arlington Heights.
"We had a great response last year with almost 80 wreaths donated and bid on," said Betsy Kmiecik, former president of the historical society and chairwoman of the Festival of the Wreaths Steering Committee. "We want more people to be able to donate, view, bid on and vote for their favorite wreath, so we're expanding the days the Festival of the Wreaths."
People can bid on and vote for their favorite wreath for the People's Choice Award from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22 to Friday, Nov. 25, and after the Arlington Heights Tree-Lighting Ceremony from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25. Bidding for wreaths continues in a silent auction until Sunday, Dec. 4, with winning bids announced that afternoon.
All proceeds from the Festival of the Wreaths benefit the historical society's mission of collecting, preserving and presenting the history of Arlington Heights. For more information go to www.ahmuseum.org or call (847) 255-1225.
In the spirit of the season, museum visitors are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to the Wheeling Township Food Pantry.
