Girls swimming: Maine West's Boesche repeats as state qualifier

Maine West's Julia Boesche is headed to the girls swimming state meet for a second straight year.

The senior sprinter advanced to next weekend's gathering at Evanston Township High School by placing second in the 50-yard freestyle (24.27) and the 100 freestyle (52.43) in Saturday's sectional meet hosted by York.

The host Dukes had the top team finish with 264 points, with Glenbard West in second place (236) and Lake Park (204) in the third.

Conant did not have a state qualifier but placed sixth (108 points). The Cougars' top individual finisher was Esther Song, who took fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.17).

Schaumburg freshman Hana Mollin earned a spot at state by finishing second in the 200 IM in 2:08.79.

Elk Grove sophomore Anna Sprenger will await word of an at-large state diving berth after placing sixth with a score of 377.45.
