Commission to discuss case of suspended Evansville officers

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - The names of four Evansville Police Department officers suspended after an arrest last month have been released.

The Evansville Courier and Press (http://bit.ly/2eoUgjC ) reports officers Mark Decamps, Marcus Craig and Nick Henderson were involved in the arrest of 36-year-old Mark Healy on Oct. 29. Sgt. Kyle Kassel was the fourth officer suspended for 21 days without pay last week.

Kassel is accused of approving the use of force against Healy as the on-duty sergeant that day. Court document say Healy poked one of the arresting officers with a needle and that force was necessary to subdue Healy.

Police chief Billy Bolin says said he recommends Kassel be demoted in rank and that the other three officers be fired.

The officers' case will be discussed at a Police Merit Commission meeting Monday.
