Cops: Three men steal cigarettes from Naperville gas station

A Naperville clerk who wouldn't supply numerous cartons of cigarettes to three men who came into the store became the victim of a robbery early Thursday morning, police said.

The clerk was not injured in what police Cmdr. Jason Arres described in a news release as a "strong-arm robbery" that took place about 1 a.m. at a gas station on the 1400 block of East Ogden Avenue.

Police said three men came into the station's convenience shop and asked for "a large number" of cartons of cigarettes. When the clerk wouldn't oblige, two of the men went behind the counter.

One suspect held the clerk, while the other handed some cigarette cartons to the third man. Police said the suspects ran east from the gas station after the robbery.

Police said all three suspects are black and were wearing dark clothing. The first was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds with black hair, the second was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 200 pounds with black hair in dreadlocks, and the third was about 6 feet 2 inches tall with black hair.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or anyone who has information about it to call the investigations division at (630) 420-6666.
