Indiana man who slashed deputy dies in Kentucky prison

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - An Indiana man who was convicted of slashing the face of a Posey County Sheriff has died while in the Kentucky Department of Correction's custody.

The Evansville Courier & Press (http://bit.ly/2fE160M ) reports 30-year-old Brandon McManomy died Friday at a Louisville hospital. Posey County Sheriff Greg Oeth says his department was notified of the death.

McManomy was serving a 15-year sentence he received in Calloway County, Kentucky. That sentence was imposed months before he was convicted of attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery resulting in serious bodily injury and resisting law enforcement for slashing the face of a Posey County, Indiana, sheriff's deputy in December 2012.

McManomy was supposed to serve 38 years in prison for the Indiana case, but that punishment wasn't set to begin until he was released in Kentucky.
