Former Buffalo Grove trustee, police board chairman Kahn retires
After nearly 25 years of service to Buffalo Grove, Bruce Kahn, chairman of the village's police and fire commission and a former village trustee, is retiring at the end of the year.
Kahn was honored by the village board Monday for his dedication to the community. He served two tenures as village trustee, from 1989-1994 and 2001-2009. He also had a previous stint on the police and fire commission, from 1998-2001.
"The village board would like to thank Chairman Bruce Kahn for his years of dedicated service to the Village of Buffalo Grove," Village President Beverly Sussman said. "He has been a tremendous asset as both a board member and a volunteer. We wish him the best in all of his future endeavors."
Commissioner Brian Rubin has been selected to succeed him as chairman effective Jan. 1.
"I was proud to have served in this capacity for the past two years. I am confident that Brian, and the entire commission, will continue to ensure that the village hires the most talented, best qualified individuals to serve the community in both the fire department and the police department," Kahn said in a news release.
Anyone interested in serving on the commission, can go to www.vbg.org and click on the "Volunteer!" link for an online application. Applicants must be a resident of Buffalo Grove and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
