Not a good case of animal rescue

Recently there were reports of one domestic pig being loose within the DuPage Forest Preserve District, and the next day a report it was killed by a sharpshooter from the USDA.

It was forest preserve ecologist Brian Kraskiewicz who reportedly declared it had to be removed because of the damage it could cause. What's questionably troubling, is what efforts the forest preserve had made to capture it from the time it learned the pig was loose in September to Oct. 20 when it was destroyed.

The forest preserve district is responsible for what occurred and owes the public a full accounting of exactly what were their efforts to capture that pig that was slaughtered on Old McDonald's Farm Forest Preserve.

DuPage County Animal Control are the professionals that could have been called in to make a live capture of this hungry pig, having the expertise to accomplish their goal.

It's unfortunate that this did not have the happy ending that is often seen televised of the herculean efforts of authorities rescuing animals that need help.
