Republicans claim both DuPage board seats in Dist. 5
DuPage County District 5 residents chose one experienced candidate and one relative newcomer - both Republicans - to fill two county board seats representing all or parts of Aurora, Naperville, Lisle and Warrenville.
For a 4-year seat, voters in Tuesday's election chose Republican incumbent James Healy, 59, of Naperville, who garnered 34,983 votes for 53 percent of total.
Healy, who has served on the county board since 1996, prevailed over Democratic challenger Regina Brent, 63, of Aurora, who got 31,168 votes for 47 percent, according to unofficial totals from Tuesday's election.
For the 2-year seat, voters ousted Democratic incumbent Tony Michelassi, 31, of Aurora, in favor of Republican challenger Janice Anderson, a 53-year-old Naperville Township trustee of Naperville, who won with 34,274 votes, or 52 percent, to Michelassi's 31,813 votes for 48 percent.
