Auto industry supplier plans to increase Indiana production

ELWOOD, Ind. (AP) - A Japan-based automotive industry supplier plans to increase parts production in Indiana.

An announcement Monday about ELSA Corp.'s plans says the $111 million investment at its Elwood operations will support growth at Subaru's auto assembly operations in Lafayette. Officials say the increase in production by ELSA could create up to 114 new jobs.

ELSA is a subsidiary of Sakamoto Industries. The multi-phase project will expand ELSA's operations to cover 686,000 square feet across multiple buildings. Plans include production lines to produce fuel tanks, exhaust systems, air cleaners and air ducts.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered ELSA up to $500,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company's job-creation plans.
