Learn about watershed plan at City of St. Charles meeting Nov. 9
The City of St. Charles is hosting a kickoff meeting for the State Street Creek and the 7th Avenue Creek Watershed Plan.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at the St. Charles Public Works Facility, 200 Deveraux Way.
The city is looking for input in identifying issues and opportunities to reduce water pollution and flooding, and to protect natural resources. Residents and business owners are encouraged to attend and be a part of the planning process.
What is watershed planning?
The primary goal of watershed planning is to restore impaired waters and protect unimpaired waters. We will develop an ecologically-based management plan for State Street Creek and 7th Avenue Creek watersheds that focuses on improving water quality by protecting green infrastructure, creating protection policies, implementing ecological restoration, and educating the public.
Who is Involved in the Watershed Planning?
This planning meeting is an opportunity for landowners, state and municipal agencies, Kane County, park districts, farm community, non-profit organizations, and other stakeholders in the watersheds to coordinate land and water protection activities for the benefit of all residents.
Representatives for the city's consultants, AES and HRGreen, will be on hand to meet with local stakeholders, provide details about the existing conditions of the watersheds, and help the group identify issues/opportunities.
