A drive the helped seniors drive
Recently, 73 happy seniors drove away from Wheaton fire Station One after their car had been inspected for safe winter driving. Their cars had been inspected from bumper to bumper by more than 33 volunteers from the community as part of a free service provided by the SALT Council, a Milton Township Seniors program.
Volunteer mechanics from AAA Auto Center, Renro Motors, Glen Ellyn Village Garage supported by student and their parents from Glenbard North HS checked the cars from bumper to bumper. The engines, the fluids and air tire pressures were checked. While the seniors were in line with their cars they were served coffee and cookies provided by Autumn Leaves. When the seniors drove out of the Fire Station they were giving a report on the health of their car and knew it was safe for winter driving
The volunteers were provided with a thank you luncheon by the SALT Council at the end of the event. The SALT Councils wish to thank everyone for the support given this program for benefit of our seniors.
