San Diego tops Americas Puebla in exhibition 49-25

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Anthony Lawrence threw for three touchdowns, Jonah Hodges ran in two more, and San Diego coasted to a 49-25 win over Universidad De Las Americas Puebla in an exhibition game Saturday night.

Lawrence connected with Justin Priest, Zack Holland and Ross Dwelley on his touchdown throws and finished 16 of 20 for 171 yards. In addition to Hodges' two scoring runs, the Torreros got rushing TDs from Jereke Armstrong and Jordan Charles.

Universidad De Las Americas Puebla is one of Mexico's top American-style collegiate football programs. It was the first football matchup between San Diego and a Mexican team since 1957, when the Torreros played University of Mexico and Mexico Polytechnic, and won't count toward season standings or player and team statistics.

UDLAP got a safety in the third quarter and a 99-yard touchdown throw from Al Linares to Robin Gonzalez late in the fourth quarter.
