Auburn linebacker Deshaun Davis ejected for targeting

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn linebacker Deshaun Davis has been ejected for targeting against Vanderbilt.

He planted his helmet into the chest of wide receiver Kalija Lipscomb after the ball had fallen incomplete midway through the first quarter Saturday. The call was confirmed after a review.

Starting linebacker Tre' Williams already had been replaced by Montavious Atkinson because of an injury.

Because the infraction happened in the first half, Davis will be able to return when the 11th-ranked Tigers visit rival Georgia.

He came into the game ranked fourth on the team with 39 tackles.
