Time to unblock Washington logjam

There is a serious candidate running for the 6th Congressional District, and then there is Peter Roskam.

Roskam expects us to believe his ads touting him as a bipartisan legislator after he's spent eight years as part the obstructionist contingent in Washington opposing anything supported by the Democrats in an effort "to do everything - and I mean everything we can do - to kill it, stop it, slow it down, whatever we can" to quote his party's Congressional leadership. So much for compromise and bi-partisanship.

Amanda Howland, on the other hand, has a down-to-earth, workable, and honest approach to governance. Amanda is a strong believer in making progress in this country rather than impeding it. A strong supporter of education, a capable administrator, she is committed to supporting our children's education and looking out for the interests of our middle class.

She is committed to strengthening Social Security, not weakening or privatizing it. Her balanced view toward foreign policy continues policies that have been antidote to the reckless adventuring of previous Republican administrations and apparently of the other not-so-serious Republican candidate for office, Donald Trump.

It is time for we constituents of the 6th District to do our part to clear the logjam intentionally constructed by Peter Roskam and his Republican cohorts in Washington and vote for Amanda Howland for Congress.
