Couldn't do 10 minutes of debate prep?
Supporters of Donald Trump, and undecided voters, hoping he would give them a reason to vote for him, must have been disappointed at his answer when asked in the last debate if he would accept the results of the election.
It was a question Trump knew he would be asked and it was clear he had not prepared an answer. Any one of a hundred different answers could have been better than the answer he gave. If he was determined to push forward on the "rigged election" narrative he could have said "Given the extent of voter fraud we expect in the election, if any state result is within 2 percent, we will have to consider a challenge."
Instead he gave an answer that showed the world he spent no time preparing for the debate and made himself look foolish. It was a softball question, and instead of pouncing on it with a well prepared answer he completely blew it and in the process guaranteed that the news cycle for the next 48 hours would focus on the absurdity of his answer to that one question instead of focusing on the future of the Supreme Court, gun rights, right to life, national security, border control, immigration, jobs, trade, or any other issues he could highlight to help convince moderate Republicans and independents to vote for him.
He tried to clean it up the next day on the campaign trail, but it was too late. He had already exposed himself as unprepared. If a candidate will not spend 10 minutes preparing for the most important debate of his life how can anyone believe he would put in the necessary effort to serve as commander in chief and leader of the free world?
