Portillo's to open in Deerfield

Oak Brook-based Portillo's will open its newest location at 700 Lake-Cook Road in Deerfield on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

The restaurant in Deerfield features 9,000 square feet of 1970s décor, two drive-through lanes and seasonal outdoor seating. The restaurant can accommodate more than 200 people inside plus up to 48 on the patio.

"Founder Dick Portillo and our entire team have been looking to expand into the Deerfield market for many years," said Portillo's CEO Keith Kinsey. "We have appreciated the full support of the village and we look forward to finally being a part of the Deerfield community."

The restaurant will feature Portillo's classic menu items, including Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, chargrilled burgers, fresh salads and chocolate cake.

It's decorated with a classic 1970s Volkswagen bus, a '70s-themed mural over the front door and vintage photos and memorabilia. As with all Portillo's locations, guests can seek out a concealed homage to Dick Portillo and his wife - a hidden sign that proclaims "Dick Loves Sharon."

The Deerfield Portillo's Deerfield location will be open 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.
