Holiday volunteers can train online

To help volunteers prepare to serve at Naperville Park District holiday events such as Santa House, for the third year the park district is offering training over the internet.

The holiday volunteer training webinar will be from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.

"This brief training is required for all volunteers for Santa House and Skating with Santa," said Lynnette Hoole, the park district's volunteer coordinator. "The webinar format makes it easy for busy volunteers to complete the training at home."

Volunteers are needed for Santa House, which runs from Friday, Dec. 2, to Friday, Dec. 23, and Skating with Santa, which will be Saturday, Dec. 3. Prospective volunteers may sign up for the events after they have completed the online training.

The training webinar will provide details about each of the holiday volunteer opportunities, how to complete the volunteer forms, what to expect, and information about other volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Volunteers who complete the training will receive one hour of volunteer service.

"We welcome parents, club members and leaders in the community to participate in the online training as well," Hoole said.

To request the webinar invitation, email Hoole at lhoole@napervilleparks.org.
