'Pipes and Hammers' Features Organ and Piano, Spiritual and Patriotic Arrangements

Sunday, November 13, at 4 pm, First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights will present Pipes and Hammers, a concert including pipe organ and piano duets by accomplished musicians Christopher Urban (on pipe organ) and Chuck Beech (on piano). This is the second event in the 2016-2017 free Concert Series presented by the church. Urban and Beech have teamed up to present the Pipes and Hammers concert since 2005 as a part of this annual musical series. This year, the popular duo have invited some friends to join them for superb arrangements of several musical masterpieces and patriotic music in honor of Veterans Day. Special guests include First Presbyterian's brass ensemble and Chancel Choir, as well as a second pianist, Pam Orals.

Highlights of the program include, "Music for the Royal Fireworks," by G.F. Handel; a hymn arrangement of "A Mighty Fortress," featuring the First Pres brass and Chancel Choir; and a stunning arrangement of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," written for two pianos, organ, trumpet and choir. Orals will play the second piano part on a second grand piano procured specifically for this event.

All Concert Series events are free and open to the public, with free child care also available, upon advance reservation with the church office (reserve care by November 9). First Presbyterian Church is at 302 N. Dunton Ave. in Arlington Heights. To learn more, visit www.fpcah.org or call 847-255-5900.
