Township road commissioner is not needed

The information being presented for a "no" vote on the referendum to eliminate the position of the Wheeling Township road commissioner is misleading.

Signs being posted all over Wheeling Township indicate "Save Your Roads" leaving voters to think all of their roads will suffer. No roads will suffer. This is false.

In addition, the Wheeling Township road commissioner does not take care of the hundreds of miles of roads in the township. He is only responsible for 5.3 miles of roads in the unincorporated areas of our township.

This position is overrated and completely unnecessary.

The road commissioner's statements in the Daily Herald"s article on Oct. 16, "Wheeling Township voters could eliminate road commissioner" indicates his administrative costs are only $31,000. This is not true as it doesn't include his salary or the fee paid for someone to do a road survey.

His actual administrative cost are over $90,000 which includes his cellphone, travel and entertainment expenses. Entertainment expenses in this position?

On Nov. 8, I"m voting "yes" to eliminate this unnecessary position and trust the Wheeling Township voters will do the same.
