Don't be fooled by Dist. 15 proposal
Does the Dist. 15 school board and its superintendent, Scott Thompson, really believe they can dupe voters/residents/taxpayers into voting for an over-bloated $130 million school bond tax increase?
Dist. 15 schools, students, young families and residents in Rolling Meadows will not receive a dime in benefits under this $130 million money grab - yet they will be expected to pay dearly at tax time.
Perhaps the Dist. 15 school board should learn to put Dist. 15 real student needs over real teacher greed when they accepted the undiscussed, unexamined and unprecedented 10-year teachers' contract.
The Dist. 15 board, knew for more than a decade that the student population north of Rand Road was burgeoning - now at a whopping 1,200 students! - yet the board did nothing. Then, without any demographic study, public discussion or justification, they decided the more affluent Hoffman Estates/Inverness warranted a new school. Like magic, the board seeks a $130 million money grab.
Are we witnessing economic bigotry? Unfortunately, although a new school is sorely needed north of Rand Road, taxpayers are stretched to the max and can no longer serve as Dist. 15's limitless ATM.
Taxpayers cannot give $130 million to this disingenuous Dist. 15 school board! When they come up with a solid plan that puts Dist. 15 student needs - especially those 1,200 kids north of Rand Road - before teacher and administrator paychecks, they'll have my vote. Until then, don't be fooled. Vote no.
