Enjoy Lunch with Santa, An Almost Winter Day Nov. 19

South Elgin Parks and Recreation invites the community to An Almost Winter Day on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 3 to5 p.m. at SEBA Park, 151 Water St. Bring your family and friends out for the fun-filled 15th annual event.

South Elgin families wait in anticipation for this preholiday season extravaganza! This special event features a petting zoo, Fox River Trolley Museum's trolley rides with the reading of the Polar Express for $1 per person, horse-drawn trolley rides, a children's cookie decorating station and holiday activity area, coffee bar station for $1 per cup, s'more extravaganza, chicken noodle soup, bonfire to keep warm, concessions stand, and the arrival of the Jolly Guy from the North on one of South Elgin's fire engines.

New this year is "Pictures with Santa" from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. Bring your camera! You can also write a letter to Santa at An Almost Winter Day. Just enclose the $2 fee in the envelope with the letter and place it in the mailbox. Don't forget your return address on your letter! At 5 p.m., Santa will take everyone down to Footprints in Time Plaza for the tree lighting event.

The South Elgin and Countryside Fire Protection District will be kicking off its Toys for Tots program at this event. Bring an unwrapped toy to the event and drop it in the marked bin.

Earlier in the day, South Elgin Parks & Recreation will be hosting "Lunch with Santa" from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This will take place at Riverside Pizza & Pub, 456 Redington Drive in South Elgin. The cost for the lunch is $25 for residents and $30 for nonresidents for a family of four. Each additional person is $5. Registration prior to the lunch is required. Register early, as space is limited.
